I always start writing with a glass of red wine. It’s more like a tradition than an addiction. I guess like my favourite writer, Charles Bukowski, I can tap into my weirdness easier after my first glass. He was an alcoholic, so I am a long way from impressing the world with my written word.

My mind lets go of that sentimental idea of ‘what will people say?’. They usually have nothing good to say anyway so why care to begin with. Reduce the level of serotonin, dopamines and endorphins, increase my risk of a heart attack and a stroke for no good reason. I plan on dying healthy and with a big grin on my face.

I am not going to analyse the semantics of the saying, it is clear that it encompasses feelings of regret. Unlike other sayings, this one is really versatile, with many subtle meanings. It comes in many forms and in the most inopportune moments.
